High season is a great time for large DMC's in Thailand to scale !
A lot of new Destination Management Companies (DMC's) came up to cater to the nearly 1 million Indians that visit Thailand, so many that now their names are synonymous. The people behind these companies are equally synonymous. The Indian will put down his dollar where he gets the lowest rate and comfort levels follow. Most transactions are in cash and money is exchanged at a time where the service is delivered, so there aren't too many mishaps. It is a nightmare in this context for any organised or big players to scale.
High season though is an opportunity for Organised and Big DMC's to scale. The smaller and synonymous players go into hibernation like the Arctic bear until conditions prove more propitious to fishmarket conditions. With room availability at near impossible levels, the Christmas New Year just over and Chinese New Year around the corner, now is the time where the men get separated from the boys. So go make hay while the bears sleep !
