Is Soi Bangla or Soi Post Office at Patong the heart of Patong's nightlife district ?
Come dusk and Soi Bangla which is approximately half way down Patong Beach Road becomes pedestrian only. But the experience is far from pedestrian...it may be a little too wild for some family folk. And it is certainly not for those looking out for peace and quiet. The street begins buzzing after 10 pm when the bars on both sides of the road come alive. In recent times, streetside shops and shopping plazas have also opened.
About 50 metres from the Beach Road end is a soi (street) that puts on a transvestite show every evening which attracts a lot of onlookers.
Something that I saw for the first time when I was there in the second half of December was Russian women dancing in a window on the 1st floor, just like walking street in Pattaya. This is probably a new dimension to Patong's nightlife.
And if you've fallen in love with your airhostess on the flight down to Phuket, there is a bar where you can buy her a drink (picture below).
If you're in the mood to listen to some live music, i see that Red Hot is always full. (picture below)
Soi Bangla is happening...you can either love it or hate it...but it is there and in your face...what are you going to do about it ?
