It is going to be more difficult to get rooms in Pattaya this summer because the Chinese film "Lost in Thailand" has pushed up Chinese Visitors to Thailand
This hit Chinese blockbuster, Lost in Thailand which grossed 6 billion THB at the box office is being held up as the reason why 800,000 Chinese visitors will visit Thailand in the first quarter of 2013. This would be a 44.4 percent increase of Chinese visitors, year on year.
In 2012, the number of Chinese to visit Thailand were 2.7 million visitors. This year the number is expected to touch 3 million visitors.
Chiang Mai was the location for the shooting of this film and not surprisingly Chiang Mai is swarming with Chinese. The media has reported that 384 charter flights carried Chinese visitors to major tourist destinations across Thailand from 8th February until February 20, such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Samui.
Is anyone in Bollywood taking note ? It could be used as as a formula for pushing up Indian visitors to Thailand too !
